Rebecca Liberty

Compliance and Operations Director
CHC of Wyandotte County

She/her

Rebecca Liberty was born and raised in Parkville, MO. This small town grew at a rapid pace during Rebecca's adolescence, which eventually exposed her to a much more diverse community and an array of different lifestyles. Growing up, Rebecca and her family were assisted in achieving independence through the support of welfare initiatives. These experiences aid Rebecca in understanding the needs of the Wyandotte community on a personal level. Rebecca earned her degree in education from The University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Dual Master in Humanities and Education from Rockhurst. Through this schooling, Rebecca developed an even greater understanding of community, advocacy, and considering culture while teaching. In addition to this, Rebecca grew up with a strong sense of community as a tribal member of the Ioway Tribe of KS and NE, since tribal culture strongly emphasizes commitment to community. Rebecca worked as a part-time teacher, while also devoting time to her children. She continued teaching at PS1 for seven years, before eventually buying the school and renaming it as Community School (CS1). After teaching for 15 years, Rebecca stepped down from her career in education, and co-founded Uzazi Village and a literacy program at a local health care facility. She also did adult literacy training at Literacy KC. Rebecca's firsthand experience growing up in a financially-challenging situation in the Kansas City region motivates her to continue advocating for others, since the resources that were available for her family is what she credits her success and survival to growing up. As a Compliance and Operations Director, Rebecca hopes to continue fighting for Wyandotte County by supporting CHC to achieve its mission and vision.
