Dan Cranshaw, JD

As Executive Director of KC Health Collaborative, Dan brings together diverse stakeholders to drive healthcare innovation, improve population health and promote health equity in the Kansas City region. By fostering collective impact, the Collaborative aims to transform healthcare delivery and create a healthier future for every BODY. Whether partnering with businesses, local governments, or key stakeholders in the nonprofit sector, Dan's leadership unites individuals and creates coalitions to bring ideas to life.

The son of nurse, Dan grew up witnessing firsthand the significance of compassion and equitable patient care. Today, he continues that tradition by advocating for equal access to healthcare for Black and brown families, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to receive the whole person care they need and deserve.

Prior to his current role, Dan spent a decade as an educator, followed by two decades in the legal profession, where he distinguished himself as a litigator, leader, and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. His dedication and commitment to the progress and implementation of diversity and inclusion earned him several awards, including Missouri Lawyers Media’s Diversity and Inclusion Award and the Greater Kansas City Chamber’s Bernard Powell Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership, a deep commitment to service, and a passion for improving the Greater Kansas City area.

Additionally, Dan serves as a member of the Supreme Court of Missouri’s Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness (CREF). The Commission’s goal is to examine and review current practices, and to recommend measures to ensure fairness, impartiality, equal access, and full participation for racial and ethnic minorities in the judicial process and in the practice of law.

Throughout his career, Dan has provided board leadership for a number of nonprofit organizations including SchoolSmartKC, the Urban Neighborhood Initiative, the American Jazz Museum, United WE, Cornerstones of Care, the Kansas & Western Missouri Salvation Army, Kansas City CARE Clinic, Don Bosco Community Centers, Schumaker Family Foundation, Swope Health Services, Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and Deerfield Academy Alumni Association.

Dan received his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Princeton University and earned his J.D. from the University of Kansas.
